backstory
Angel and the Badman is an 1947 John Wayne Western that rode off into the Sunset of Public Domain in 1975, when Republic Pictures did not renew the copyright. So saddle up and watch this Badboy (or Man) right here on PDFU.NET for free until the cows come home (whatever that means).

Nod Review
What’s interesting about Angel and the Badman is all the derivative versions of the title. Now this usually happens with most Public Domain movies, other people for whatever reason, like to re-edit, remaster, make fan cuts of the movie and that’s part of what Public Domain is really about. Allowing the public to be inspired by this work and to add something new to society by putting their own spin on it.
Back when Ted Turner caused a big uproar by colorizing some of the classics that he “owned”, I was like meh, may have brought a couple old stories to the “I don’t watch Black and White movies” crowd. Big deal. They’re probably not gonna like the pacing, the direction or subject matter either. Saying you don’t like a group of movies based on whether it’s in color or not is kind of like being a rac---Never mind let’s not go there.

When cattle-rustler and outlaw, Quirt Evans is hurt doing some old west shenanigans he seeks refuge with a honest to goodness Quaker family and changes all of their lives in ways they never expected.
I gave Angel and the Bad 4 out of 5 nods, here’s a few reasons why:

I gave Angel and the Bad 4 out of 5 nods, here’s a few reasons why:
- The dialogue felt very relaxed and natural. The whole mood of the movie is this way. There are very few Western “Action Scenes” and only one barroom brawl, which was fun but still felt a little forced. This was definitely a John Wayne Love Story. I know, it doesn’t even sound right but it still works.
- The casting was spot-on. From the title characters to the supporting characters to Quirt’s side-kick. Everyone fit their roles perfectly.
